Sweet Suite 13 Made My Daughter Happy

By Estelle Sobel Erasmus

Run by the amazing trio JoeyCharlene and Laurie of The Big Toy Book Family, Sweet Suite 13 (#SweetSuite13) is the kind of  event, that makes  you feel you are in Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory–just substitute tons of toys, stuffed animals, dolls and games for candy–and you get the picture.

The event showcased a dazzling array of new toy and goodies that come birthday or holiday time will make every child-boy or girl-squeal with delight, much as I did the minute I walked through the door.

Never mind me, though. Imagine how delighted my daughter was when a few days after I arrived back from Chicago, we received a huge box of goodies. The weather cooperated perfectly and it rained the next day. Instead of figuring out how to entertain my daughter, we spent the day unwrapping toy after toy after toy to her supreme joy. Some of her favorites include Spiderman Flying Heroes (the guy in red below), which my daughter now sleeps with and a  mermaid doll that comes with her own dolphin.

Because she tends not to focus on the big stuff, my daughter loves (as do I) the Crayola Squeeze-A-Color Anti Cavity Flouride Toothpaste in fab flavors like Jazzy Apple, Melon Blast and Blueberry Burst. She wants to brush her teeth now several times a day. Hey, does it come for adults, too?

But, why not let her tell you herself how much she loves the toothpaste she got herself.

A few toys/items that stood out for me from Sweet Suite 13:

ArtSee Studio from WowWee

ArtSee from Wowee

We already have this at home and I love it. Since my daughter has been obsessed with my IPad, this is exactly what she needs. It’s an art app/and IPad case for kids with a little something extra added. What’s so wonderful about it is that your child can easily change the background, the design, while creating interactive animated stamp animals (giraffes that move their heads) and other objects that dance around the screen for HOURS of entertainment and the ability to let your kid say, “Mommy, I did it myself. Look what I can do.

Furby by Hasbro

Furby by Hasbro

This amazing toy has a mind of it’s own. You can feed it virtual food, and it will show feelings via likes and dislikes. I love it because as mom of one daughter, she can interact with a Furby; and feel like she has a companion. She really enjoys those kinds of toys.

My Girl’s Dollhouse from Wicked Cool Toys

This dollhouse is the mother of all dollhouses. Pricey at ($299 for a presale, it’s normally $399)? Sure. Beautiful? Definitely.

If you are looking for that WOW birthday or holiday gift, this is the one to get.  Especially if you already have a bunch of 18″ American Girl Dolls to include (no barbies for this doll house  mansion). Make sure you have space though; this dollhouse is gigantic–at six feet tall, five feet wide and 2 feet deep–so a large bedroom or playroom is definitely in order, making it ideal for houses-not so much apartments.

If you order now (click on link above), your My Girl’s Dollhouse will arrive at the beginning of November – just in time for that very special little girl, or doll collector to have a home for herr beloved collectible 18″ dolls, furniture and accessories!

These are only a few of the brands I was able to talk to and showcase on my blog.

I will be covering other toys in other posts so please let me know what you are interested in seeing. Dolls, stuffed animals, talking toys, Tinker Toys…tell me yours and your kids’ favorites.

  1. I wish I could’ve gone to blogher this year! Hopefully they finally decide that next year is going to be in NYC!

    1. Hi Jessica,
I have a feeling they will have it in California next year, but you never know. Personally, I liked it better this year in Chicago than last year in NY. Hope to meet you either way, though.

  2. wow! The dollhouse looks awesome! My daughter is 4 and she just started playing with barbies and teddy bears… 🙂

    1. Hi Melina,
I know. I think you have to have a house and make it THE main present of the year. But it was very impressive to see.

    1. Carrie,
Yes, the toothpaste has been my favorite because she is brushing so much more. You can also layer it so the flavors are combined. Like I said, I want it for me:)

  3. Those toys are very cool, I can see why your daughter loves them! I’ll have to check them out, especially the ArtSee Studio.

    1. Hi Holly,
There are so many cool toys that I wish I had as a kid. I used to be content with a slinky (which is still popular by the way).

  4. Sounds like fun! Have you seen the Funloom bracelets in sparkly and tie-dye colors around? Everywhere I go I see kids (and their parents) wearing them and I didn’t even know about them a month ago!

    1. Melissa,
It was fun. Is this the new company you are working for? Would love to know more. Send me a DM please.
